I attended Washington State University and earned a BA in Communications with an emphasis on journalism and public relations. During college, I spent a summer studying in Spain. I attended intensive language classes and this enabled me to earn a double major in Spanish language studies.In high school and at WSU, I was involved in peer mentoring programs and tutored in English, Spanish, and public speaking. I find tutoring to be essential to education because everyone learns in different ways. It allows the tutor and student to use methods tailored to the individual, instead of strictly following a textbook. This is a crucial part in helping the student enjoy their studies. I am qualified to tutor students in Spanish, reading, writing, literature, and English. I am also skilled in essay editing, grammar and mechanics, and public speaking. After graduating, I was employed in media relations for a radio station. For three years, I worked on marketing campaigns for companies and was able to advance my public speaking and writing skills. I currently work as a public relations coordinator and my job duties include cultivating media relationships, coordinating events, and writing press releases. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the beauty of Portland, and browsing book stores. I also enjoy running, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
